Will this work with the new Macbook Pro's 2016 and their combined thunderbolt 3 and usb c port?
A: Just got the MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2016) today. This HUB does not work. It's USB 2.0 and cannot get any of my USB devices to do anything but power on. Devices are not recognized by the computer.

Is it possible to view 4k video on an sd card by inserting the usb and hdmi cables into the ports on a 4k tv, without a computer in the loop?
A: No, these are just external ports to add to a computer. It has no processing or storage capability of it's own. The HDMI port is 2.0 so if you have a compatible display and a fast enough SD card you can show 4K content, but you would need to open it with a video player on your computer.

Could you use this to review or download pictures from an SD card to an iPad?
A: iPads don't have USB C connections. This is intended for the MacBook and new MacBook Pro, not iPad. Future iPads may have the USB C connection, but none of them do currently.
